Gallbladder Cancer
Cancers of the gallbladder are rare, but are very common in certain parts of the world. Very small tumors that are confined to the gallbladder itself and have not spread to the liver or other organs should be removed surgically. Many very small gallbladder cancers are found “incidentally” when the gallbladder is removed for reasons other than suspicion of cancer. Gallbladder cancer has a high likelihood of returning even after complete removal, thus it is important to be evaluated by a specialist to determine whether additional treatment such as radiation and/or chemotherapy should be given.
